Art. Art. Art.

Between managing projects for the CLAY Festival, trying to promote our downtown art scene, and fulfilling my domestic duties, my painting time has taken a back seat.

It's sad.

Especially because it's one of those things that - once I'm engaged in it - I find peace and rest in.  It soothes me. It centers me. Why don't I pursue this more?!?

Day by day efforts, I guess.
That's what I need to do.

My hope is to add a touch of color to the above piece. I'd love to make it available as a print for my Etsy shop!  So there you have it. A new goal... :)

If You Were To Visit...

Sometimes I wish I could gather my family,
all my friends and dear acquaintances that I wish I knew better,
and live in a town together.

This town would have trees and sea and sky
and sweet mountains with a view for miles.

I wish I could open my home more.
That I could brew some tea, pull out my favorite throws,
and just gather around my couch and chairs and talk late into the night.
Talk of the deep things. The hard things. The blessed things.
And just listen.

I often long for this.

In lieu of such proximity, I shall open my home on this little blog.
Here is my abode.
And you are always invited.

Life.

This last month has been an interesting one.

Some updates:

I have a job now!  

Well, besides painting and managing

my Etsy store...

 

I am now the official Project Manager

for Silver City's CLAY Festival in 2013.

We're already busy at work,my friends, 
and I have yet to perfect my time management skills.

Let's hope that gets better! :P

 

Also, I am back to running again!

My ballet teacher had to suddenly move to Arizona,

so I have jumped back into jogging.

Honestly, it's refreshing.

And meditative.

I've been doing an easy 5K plan

(which I highly recommend for those of you

who need a bit of structure and easy build-up).

I start week five tomorrow!

Those are just a few updates for me.

Thanksgiving of course will be fabulous as well!

We're gearing up to spend it with family.

 I shall try and take many a picture!

A studio tour

This weekend was 

Silver City's annual

Red Dot Studio Tour!

Dozens of local art studios

and galleries

opened their doors for the weekend

to share their creative process

and collections!

It was pretty rad!

Visiting Vicki at her studio is always a treat for me.

I love just chatting with her 

and seeing the progress 

on some of her newer pieces.

One time, 

she even invited me over 

for coffee and to teach me 

how to build and stretch my own canvas!

It was pretty awesome.

We actually worked on this

large painting below with the horses.

And with her cats roaming around the property, 

the open doors of her work space,

and the gorgeous views and warm breeze,

I can't help but leave 

uplifted.

As for all the other galleries we visited...

I failed on taking photos,

but trust me.

They were pretty wonderful too!

Pickamania

Today, Tanner & I

spent some time at 

Pickamania!

It's a bluegrass, folk, Americana, 

roots music festival held

every year in Silver City.

The weather was perfect for it.

Overcast, 

chilly...

perfect for snuggling up with a blanket

and swaying to the tunes together.

One of my favorite parts

about any festival or event 

in this town

is the fact that this one AWESOME guy

with his signature bandana

can always be seen dancing 

just below the stage.

The dancing man with his white bandana on his head.  Performance art in action.

It's like he's a reincarnated eagle,

moving his arms in the slowest

most graceful flapping motions

I've ever seen.

I love it :)

 

All in all,

the festival was wonderful.

Especially when "Mike & Ruthy" 

were playing - so good.
