Well, I'm not going to lie...
Paint is incredible.
It's the cheapest way
to change up a whole room!
So last weekend,
that's just what we did!
Previously, our home was painted
a semigloss creamy pinkish peach color
(here's the closest thing I could find)
on every possible surface:
the doors, trim, walls, ceiling...
Benjamin Moore's "Cookie Dough" |
And to top it off,
the paint was looking old and dingy...
like it hadn't been painted
in over a decade.
Sooo.... it was time for a change.
We decided on Benjamin Moore's "White Dove"
with BM's "Chantilly Lace"
for the trim, doors, and kiva style fireplace
(and eventually the ceiling)
The goal was to have a
clean,
clean,
open,
airy
living room
(with just enough warmth to keep it inviting)
while letting our colorful furniture and accessories
bring some liveliness to the space.
We were able to knock out the walls in a day
followed by the trim and french doors the next.
Here are some
BEFORE & AFTER

This is a horrible before photo, but notice the lack of contrast between the trim and wall |
After: see the cooler tones and contrast between the trim and wall |

After: much better! (the color is a little off here, sorry!) |
All in all, we're pretty excited about the change,
although it's hard to tell through these photos.
Going with a clean neutral color
was the best option for us,
given the amount of color in our home already.
Plus, if we ever get a new couch
or change out some of our pillows, etc.,
our walls will serve as the perfect canvas
to showcase whatever we are working with!
This room still has a long way to go...
1. Window curtains to soften the space
2. New shelves/bookcases to simulate built-ins
3. Art
4. Additional seating by the window
5. Painting the ceiling a flat "Chantilly Lace"
etc...
Thanks for all the help sorting through colors, folks,
and I hope you like the change too!
"Plus, if we ever get a new couch..."
ReplyDeleteDON'T. don't ever get a new couch.
but if you do, can i have THAT one?
It looks great! I'm so glad you like it. White rooms are so fresh and modern, in my opinion. Every single room I like (practically every single room) is white. Including yours!
